corey and stacey Martin
Cory and Stacy Martin have been married for 27 years and have 4 adult children. They are from Michigan, but currently live in High Point, North Carolina. Cory is a woodworker and furniture designer. Stacy is an ESL instructor at the community college and advocate for refugees and immigrants. They lived in Nicaragua for 10 years from 2012-2022 doing vocational training with their 4 children (a son and three daughters). It was during this time that two of their girls came out-one as transgender and the other as gay. They felt isolated and were struggling to make sense of all the changes in their family. It became increasingly difficult to stay and serve in Nicaragua. They returned home to North Carolina just in time to become grandparents from their oldest son and his Nicaraguan wife. They now have two young grandchildren. Their transgender child recently transitioned back to female while their youngest remains gay and gender fluid. They have learned to trust God with all of the hard and beautiful parts of their story, which is still being written. They don’t have any more answers, but they know that they don’t have to understand what or why for their faith to be strong.
