Diane lives outside of the Capital District of Albany, New York, with her husband and the love of her life of 42 years, Joel. While she has an undergraduate degree in religion and a master's in student personal administration in higher education, her career took a sharp left-hand turn into Electrolysis, which is the practice of permanent hair removal. She has owned her own business for over 46 years and has developed a deep compassion for the LGBTQ community through her intimate work with transgender women.
Joel and Diane became committed Christians in 2000 after Diane experienced a near-death event and felt the presence of the God that she had studied in college. That began a 20-year journey of love, commitment, and service to a large conservative, evangelical church in her community. When their youngest son came out, their world fell apart.
After seeking counsel with their senior pastor and a few close, trusted friends, they felt no sense of guidance or clear direction on continuing to love their son and their Lord simultaneously. When Diane discovered Embracing the Journey, their world slowly came back together. "We could've written the story… Greg and Lynn's story was our story.!"
Joel and Diane continue to worship and serve in their church and pray that God will open the door to use them as bridgebuilders for the LGBTQ+ community through Embracing The Journey.
