Kent & Kim Ernsting
Kim and Kent Ernsting have been married for 44 years and are the parents of two grown children and have two grandchildren. Their youngest son, born in 1993, is gay and is currently married. As Christian parents who raised their children in the church and in Young Life, they have been on a journey of learning and growing in understanding God’s heart toward all of his children. They have come to a place of understanding that God knows and loves His children, with full knowledge of who they are. They are seeking to love their son well, which has been reinforced by the teaching of Embracing the Journey, which focuses on Love as our primary role as parents.
Kent has been a mental health therapist for over 35 years and Kim has been an administrator at colleges and universities for all of her career in positions in student development and academic affairs. Kim retired in 2019 and has a robust volunteer schedule with outreaches in their local church. Kent enjoys his work and plans to continue working. They both have been blessed by being connected to other parents of LBBTQ+ children and are grateful for the opportunity to come alongside other parents on this journey.
