Dr. Michael Sytsma

Michael Sytsma, PhD is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Therapist, Ordained Minister, professor, and national speaker. He has over 35 years of clinical experience in marriage and sex therapy and is the founder of Building Intimate Marriages, Inc., where he and his staff provide individual, marriage, and family counseling focused on relationship and sexual issues. He is also co-founder of Sexual Wholeness, Inc., where he develops resources and trains pastors, counselors, and other church leaders in healthy sexuality and addressing sexual concerns within the context of faith. He is an Ordained Minister in The Wesleyan Church and on faculty at five different seminaries and graduate schools, including Asbury Theological Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Denver Seminary. He is co-author of Secrets of Sex and Marriage and the Unlocking an Intimate Marriage: A Small Group Discussion Guide for Married Couples, as well as a contributor to several other works. He has been married to Karen since 1985 and has two sons and one daughter-in-law.
