Colleen was raised in the Catholic church. She and her husband have been married for 37 years and have two adult children. Colleen’s career interests center around serving others through teaching in the public school system to Associate Professor of Youth Development -University of Wisconsin Madison and serving bereaved families as a grief specialist. When their daughter came out as gay, their world was rocked. With a husband who didn’t want to talk about it and Colleen, being very social and relational, recognized she needed other people, support, and resources to navigate this journey. Enter Embracing the Journey – truly a lifeline that has made all the difference in her journey. In her free time, Colleen enjoys volunteer tutoring K-2nd grade, providing support to the bereaved, journaling, reading, swimming, pickleball, travel, flower gardening, good coffee, and spirited conversations.
