Scott & Hanne Larson
Scott and Hanne founded Straight Ahead Ministries in 1988, which works with juvenile offenders across the United States. They had more than 20 youths transitioning out of lock-up live with them over a 10-year period. It was during that time that their own two children were born.
As an adult, their youngest child came out identifying as gay and non-binary. Scott and Hanne’s world was shaken when their child honestly expressed the pain they had experienced growing up in their evangelical missionary home.
Discovering Embracing the Journey and the support they received from other Christian parents with LGBTQ+ children was a breath of fresh air and a gift to Scott and Hanne. Finding this safe place so moved the Larson’s that they began volunteering, leading support groups to help other parents on similar journeys.
Scott and Hanne reside in Worcester. Massachusetts.
